Unalloyed steel plumbing fittings - Fittings with press ends for unalloyed steel tubes
Abstract
This document specifies product characteristics, assessment methods, compliance criteria of test results and a designation system for press fittings, including their elastomeric seals, made of unalloyed steel. The press fittings are designed for a service lifetime of fifty years. Press fittings produced to this standard are suitable for joining steel tubes to EN 10305, EN 10346, EN 10255, EN 10220, EN 10216-1, EN 10217-1 and with wall thicknesses, as specified by the fitting manufacturer. This document specifies press fittings in the size range 12 mm to 108 mm and/or 3/8” to 4” for the purpose of joining unalloyed steel tubes intended to be used in: a) Liquid applications: - hot or cold water in closed circuits - heating systems according to EN 12828 - cooling systems - fire protection systems including wet sprinkler systems, - supply systems for point of consumption with liquid fuels according to EN 12514 - oil b) fuel gas applications with maximum operating pressure less than or equal to 5 bar, only in combination with tubes in accordance with EN 10255 - Natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas systems - Hydrogen fuel gas - Mixture of natural gas with hydrogen c) compressed air systems and technical gases Press fittings may be suitable for use in additional applications outside the scope of this standard. For such applications, the respective manufacturer shall approve the application.
