Environmental testing - Part 3-14: Supporting documentation and guidance - Developing a climatic sequential test (IEC 60068-3-14:2025); German version EN IEC 60068-3-14:2025
Umgebungseinflüsse - Teil 3-14: Unterstützende Dokumentation und Leitfaden - Entwickeln einer Klimaabfolgeprüfung (IEC 60068-3-14:2025); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 60068-3-14:2025
Overview
Used in humid environments combined with high or low temperatures can have adverse effects on parts or components in electrical products, particularly in combination or alternated over an extended period of time. In this regard this part of the 60068 series of standards provides fundamental guidance on the development of a specific sequential test program for electrical products. Thus the specific characteristics of the test specimen and/or its intended use and operating environment can be taken into consideration. It is essential to determine the environmental requirements for a product and to compile the combinations and sequences of these environmental requirements that are considered to be critical into an effective and feasible test program. This new part of the standard 60068-3-14 is related to the increasing significance of the IECQ quality assurance system of the IEC. The general requirements in DIN EN IEC 60068-1, Clause 7 and Annex A do not satisfy this. Issues directly related to fire or explosions are the responsibility of another technical committee. The standard DIN EN IEC 60068-3-14 is available in its first edition and, as supporting documentation and a guideline, applies to all electrical engineering products subject to testing with regard to "environmental influences"; insofar there are no typical application examples for this generally applicable standard.
