Overview

This part of IEC 61784-5 specifies the installation profile for CPF 12 (EtherCAT^TM). The installation profile is specified in Annex A. This annex is read in conjunction with IEC 61918:2018, IEC 61918:2018/AMD1:2022 and IEC 61918:2018/AMD2:2024. This document applies exclusively to the installation of CPF 12 (EtherCAT^TM). The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 61784-5-12 (VDE 0800-500-12):2019-07 as follows: a) addition of twisted 4-pair cables; b) replacement of references to CP 12/1 and CP 12/2 with a reference to CPF 12. This standard shall be consulted, for example, when installing fieldbus devices in an industrial plant that communicates via the EtherCAT^TM) communication profile.
