DIN 45660-2
Uncertainty in acoustics and vibration - Part 2: Uncertainty of vibration quantities
Unsicherheit in der Akustik und Schwingungstechnik - Teil 2: Unsicherheit schwingungstechnischer Größen
Overview
This standard describes how to deal with uncertainty in vibration quantities (vibration parameters). The standard specifies methods for determining the uncertainty of measured, calculated, or predicted vibration quantities (vibration parameters). In addition, this document specifies how to deal with uncertainty when comparing determined values with requirement values and can be used in practice to determine the uncertainty of vibration-related quantities and when preparing standards for various areas of application. The present standard DIN 45660-2 contains annexes with examples of the practical handling of measurement uncertainty in the fields of hand-arm vibration exposure at the workplace, hand-arm vibration characteristics of machines, vibrations in environmental control, machine vibrations, interlaboratory tests, mathematical models, and Monte Carlo simulations. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 001-03-12 AA "Schwingungseinwirkung auf den Menschen - Hand-Arm-Schwingungen" ("Human exposure to vibration - Hand-transmitted vibration") at DIN/VDI Standards Committee for Acoustics, Noise Reduction, and Vibration Technology (NALS). The standard differs from DIN SPEC 45660-2:2018-01 as follows: a) the terms "coverage interval", "coverage probability", "uncertainty budget", and "measured quantity" have been added to Clause 3; b) Table 1 has been added to Clause 5 with an example of how the purpose of the measurement influences the uncertainty budget; c) Table 2 has been supplemented with detailed explanations of how influencing factors from other measurements shall be handled in order to transfer them to one's own situation (Subclause 6.3); d) the requirements for the presentation of results have been clarified (Clause 7); e) Annex G with examples for better differentiation between measurement uncertainties and measurement errors has been added; f) the programs or functions described in Annex E are provided as digital files; g) editorial adjustments have been made to reflect current design rules.
