Mechanical vibration - Measurement and evaluation of machine vibration - Part 21: Horizontal axis wind turbines (ISO/DIS 20816-21:2023); Text in German and English
This part of DIN ISO 20816 specifies the measurement and evaluation of mechanical vibration of wind turbines and their components by measurements on non-rotating parts. It is applicable to horizontal axis wind turbines with a rated power output of the generator of more than 200 kW. Both horizontal axis wind turbines in which the generator is coupled to the rotor via a gearbox and horizontal axis wind in which the generator is coupled to the rotor without a gearbox (direct drive wind turbines) are covered. The vibrations of different types of wind turbines are clearly identified and the measurement positions are displayed graphically. Furthermore, the assessment tables have been revised and standardized and the descriptions of the technical functioning of wind turbines have been clarified. A proposal for protocols for acceptance measurements has also been added. In this part of DIN ISO 20816, zones for the evaluation of vibrations during continuous load operation are recommended and limit values of the evaluation zones for wind turbines are specified, which are based on vibration data from several thousand wind turbines with a nominal output power of the generator of up to 5 MW. These can be helpful for agreements between users and manufacturers. Although the nature and implementation of broadband vibration monitoring of wind turbines is discussed, this document is not applicable to the diagnosis or fault detection by condition monitoring of wind turbines. The assessment of the balance quality of the low-speed rotor of a wind turbine, for which special measurements and analyses are required, is not covered by this part of DIN ISO 20816. Furthermore, this document is not applicable to acceptance measurements on gearboxes and generators in the manufacturer's test field.
