Transition fittings for polyethylene gas piping systems – Part 1: Requirements and Tests
Abstract
This document describes the requirements and associated tests for mechanical fititings and non-detachable transition fittings made of metal or plastic in PE gas pipelines. In the following, these components are referred to as transition fittings. This document applies to transition fittings with a diameter of up to d ≤ 225 mm and a maximum allowable operating pressure (MOP) of 10 bar, which are used to connect buried pressure pipes, fittings or valves made of • polyethylene (PE 80, PE 100, PE 100-RC) according to DVGW Code of Practice GW 335 and DIN EN 1555 Parts 1 to 4 • PE-X pipes according to DIN 16893 to each other or to pipe components made of other materials. This standard is applicable to transition connectors as an integral part of components such as a gas shut-off valve or a gas tapping valve. Transition fittings according to this document are suitable for use with gases of the 2nd, 3rd and 5th gas family (hydrogen) according to DVGW Code of Practice G 260.
