Overview

This European Technical Specification specifies standards for Network and Timetable Exchange (NeTEx) about public transprt. NeTEx is regarded as a complement to the SIRI (Service Interface for Real-time Information). Using open standardized interfaces generally improve the efficiency and technical viability of systems in public transport. A large number of system suppliers can manufacture independent exchangeable systems and as a result offer competitive products on the market. Therewith the standard promotes competition and avoids proprietary solutions of single suppliers. Standardized solutions also allow the automated test procedures of each functional module and therewith reduce inspection effort and cost.
