State of railway vehicles - Running gear - Part 4: Steel springing
Abstract
The documents in the complete works "Zustand der Eisenbahnfahrzeuge (en: Condition of Railway Vehicles)" contain technical specifications for safety-related systems and components of railway vehicles that require monitoring. These documents define the limit state for the safe operation of railway vehicles and their components. They are to be applied if the vehicles are operated on public railway infrastructure. The minimum requirements for processes to maintain the target condition of railway vehicles set out in this document must also be applied. In addition, these documents must also be taken into account in new designs if design measures are required to ensure compliance with the operating limit criteria. The applicability of the standards of the complete works to railway vehicles of other track gauges and their components must be checked in each individual case. This document applies to steel suspension and specifies the general provisions for the technical target condition of steel spring types: — coil springs and — leaf springs (trapezoidal and parabolic springs). The specifications in this document refer to steel springs and their — individual parts, — supporting documents, — attachments, — guides, and — suspensions. In the event of deviations from the types of construction specified here, this document applies mutatis mutandis. In the case of combined suspension types (e.g., series connection of steel and elastomer springs), the individual springs are subject to the applicable DIN standard of this series of standards.
