To develop European standards for design, manufacture, operation and maintenance for all rail systems , in the field of heavy rail and urban rail Rolling Stock Systems and associated vehicle mounted system equipment in order to provide:- clearly stated harmonised requirements for these Rolling Stock Systems at all operational speeds from urban rail vehicles to high speed trains.- safe and reliable levels of operation.- pass/fail criteria to assist approval authorities to easily accept these Rolling Stock Systems
