Blitzschutz - Teil 2: Risiko-Management; Beiblatt 3: Zusätzliche Informationen zur Anwendung der DIN EN IEC 62305-2 (VDE 0185-305-2)
Overview
This Supplement supplements or modifies the tables from DIN EN IEC 62305-2 (VDE 0185-305-2):2026-02, Annex B and Annex C in order to better correspond to the structural, technical, and administrative circumstances and particularities in Germany. Furthermore, the experience gained in Germany and the assessments typically made with regard to the probabilities of damage and losses are given appropriate consideration. It should be noted that a risk analysis in accordance with DIN EN IEC 62305-2 (VDE 0185-305-2) is generally not necessary for lightning protection systems required by building codes. If lightning protection is required due to statutory or regulatory requirements and no specific protective class is defined, then a lightning protection system of (at least) protective class III is recommended. Further information in this regard is contained in DIN EN IEC 62305-1 (VDE 0185-305-1), National Annex NA. Guidance on risk management for potentially explosive installations is not included. The standard differs from DIN EN 62305-2 Supplement 3 (VDE 0185-305-2 Supplement 3):2013-12 as follows: a) editorial revision of the Supplement; b) no longer includes guidance on PSPD as this is already covered in DIN EN IEC 62305-2 (VDE 0185-305-2); c) expanded table on PEB; d) adjustment of the values for loss Lx; e) no longer includes guidance on risk management for potentially explosive installations. This Supplement provides support in assessment of the probability of damage and the value of the loss in a structure for use in risk management related to lightning protection.
