High-voltage switchgear and controlgear - Part 100: Alternating-current circuit-breakers (IEC 62271-100:2021 + AMD1:2024); German version EN IEC 62271-100:2021 + A1:2024
Hochspannungs-Schaltgeräte und -Schaltanlagen - Teil 100: Wechselstrom-Leistungsschalter (IEC 62271-100:2021 + AMD1:2024); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 62271-100:2021 + A1:2024
Overview
This part of IEC 62271 is applicable to three-phase AC circuit-breakers designed for indoor or outdoor installation and for operation at frequencies of 50 Hz and/or 60 Hz on systems having voltages above 1 000 V. This document includes only direct testing methods for making and breaking tests. For synthetic testing methods refer to IEC 62271-101. In a direct testing method a single source is used to supply voltage and current during the making and breaking tests. This part of IEC 62271 does not apply to: - circuit breakers with a drive (closing mechanism) for dependent manual operation; - circuit breakers intended for use on electric tractive stock; these are covered by IEC 60077 (all parts); - generator circuit breakers used between the generator and the step-up transformer; these are covered by IEC 62271-37-013; - self-tripping circuit breakers with trip devices that cannot be blocked during the test. Tests on automatic ciruit reclosers are addressed in IEC 62271-111; - tests to verify performance under exceptional conditions not described in this document shall be subject to an agreement between the manufacturer and the user. Such exceptional conditions include, for example, cases where the voltage exceeds the rated voltage of the circuit breaker, as can occur during load shedding on long overhead lines or cables. The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 62271-100 (VDE 0671-100):2022-12 and DIN EN IEC 62271-100 Corrigendum 1 (VDE 0671-100 Corrigendum 1):2024-05 as follows: a) the definition of terminal fault has been updated; b) the description of the time parameters for the rated switching sequence has been updated (the parameters themselves have remained the same); c) rated voltages of 15,5 kV, 27 kV, and 40,5 kV have been added to Table 1; d) additional criteria have been added for the proof voltage test; e) it has been made clear that the partial discharge test only applies to GIS and boiler circuit breakers ; f) in 7.2.12.101 a voltage test has been added as a condition check in accordance with 7.2.12.103; g) The t2 value for T60 has been corrected to the t2 values of T100; h) TRV values in Table 16, Table 17, Table 18, Table 19, Table 20, Table 22, Table 23, Table 24, Table 25, Table 30, and Table F.1 have been recalculated and updated; i) requirement for the presence of an inrush current in the same phase as the shortest arcing times during tests of three-phase current in a parallel capacitor bank; j) requirement to perform mechanical function tests on all added trip units; k) an existing tolerance for single-phase short-circuit and double earth fault has been added to Table B.1; l) a tolerance for the L75 breaking current has been updated in Table B.1.
