Overview

This document defines requirements and checklists for the factory acceptance test (FAT), the factory integration test (FIT), the site acceptance test (SAT), and the site integration test (SIT). These tests are carried out to demonstrate that the automation system meets the requirements of the applicable specification. Technical and manufacturing-related activities that occur prior to or after the factory acceptance test, the factory integration test, acceptance of the installed system, and the integration test, such as electrical and instrumentation loop checks and commissioning, are not covered in this document. It should also be noted that additional guidelines, definitions, and standards shall be observed for regulated industries. Furthermore, this document does not cover the validation of safety devices, the testing and verification of manufacturing control systems, or the testing and verification of advanced process control. This document includes a limited number of network tests, but does not provide comprehensive IT security requirements for industrial automation systems. Examples of applications include the factory acceptance test (FAT), the factory integration test (FIT), the site acceptance test (SAT), and the site integration test (SIT); these may be coordinated between the owner, the buyer, and the vendor with the aid of this document.
