Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components - Non-wavelength-selective fibre optic branching devices - Part 1: Generic specification (IEC 60875-1:2024); German version EN IEC 60875-1:2024
Lichtwellenleiter - Verbindungselemente und passive Bauelemente - Wellenlängenunabhängige Lichtwellenleiter-Verzweiger - Teil 1: Fachgrundspezifikation (IEC 60875-1:2024); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 60875-1:2024
Overview
This part of IEC 60875 applies to non-wavelength-selective fibre optic branching devices exhibiting the following general features: - they are passive, in that they contain no optoelectronic or other transducing elements; - they have three or more ports for the entry and/or exit of optical power, and share optical power among these ports in a predetermined fashion; - the ports are optical fibres, or optical fibre connectors. This standard establishes uniform requirements for the optical, mechanical and environmental properties. This product standard describes the product, its interoperability, expected operational behavior, operating environment, reliability, and quality assurance. It includes references to the relevant IEC standard as well as the values for the corresponding parameters. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard differs from DIN EN 60875-1 (VDE 0885-875-1):2016-03 as follows: a) removal of variant and reference extensions in clause classification b) removal of specification system in clause documentation c) removal of interface standards, reliability standards and interlinking in clause standardization system. Application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined information for testing, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
