Title (German)

Arbeitsweise von Leuchten - Teil 1: Allgemeine Anforderungen (IEC 62722-1:2022); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 62722-1:2022

Overview

This document covers specific performance and environmental requirements for luminaires, incorporating electric light sources for operation from supply voltages up to 1 000 V. Unless otherwise detailed, performance data covered under the scope of this document are for the luminaires in a condition representative of new manufacture, with any specified initial aging procedures completed. This document covers requirements for luminaires to support energy efficient use and responsible environmental management to the end of life. The object of this document is to provide a set of requirements which are considered to be generally applicable to most types of luminaires. 1. Luminaires shall be tested in their entirety with the light sources and control gear specified by the manufacturer. Unless otherwise specified, the luminaire, light source, and control gear shall be tested in new condition and installed for normal use in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. 2. Luminaires shall meet the requirements of the part of the IEC 60598-2 series of standards that corresponds to their construction. 3. Luminaires shall meet all the requirements of this Part 1 and, where applicable, the additional requirements of the IEC 62772-2 series of standards corresponding to the type of light source used in the luminaire. If further points are specified in the IEC 62772-2 series of standards, then alternative measurement methods or limit values to those specified in this Part 1 may be described. 4. Where this standard specifies that data shall be provided, this data may be provided by the manufacturer in printed or electronic formats, via the manufacturer's catalog, website, or similar, unless otherwise specified in this standard. 5. Luminaires for incandescent lamps may be used with lamps of any wattage that do not exceed the maximum wattage indicated and any lamp technology (for example halogen lamp, compact fluorescent lamp with built-in ballast, or LED with built-in ballast) for lighting technology, electrical, and luminous efficacy purposes, provided that these lamps are covered by an available IEC safety standard and comply with the requirements of that standard. For these luminaires, the number of lamps, their technology, and their power shall be specified in the luminaire manufacturer's catalog, on their website, or similar. The use of an ILCOS code according to IEC 61231 is recommended. Further details may be required to identify the type of lamp. Where additional performance requirements for specific types of light source are relevant, these are specified in the IEC 62722-2 series. The IEC 62722-2 series can also cover a wider scope of performance aspects appropriate to the particular light source technology. The standard differs from DIN EN 62722-1:2016-12 as follows: a) the reference to the measurement methods and their application to power consumption in non-active mode (standby mode) according to IEC 63103 has been added; b) the pictograms in Annex C have been updated to represent modern light sources. Overview for luminaire manufacturers of the data that shall be provided by the manufacturer in printed or electronic formats, via the manufacturer's catalog, website, or similar, unless otherwise specified in this document.
