Overview

This document states the technical and dimensional requirements for lampholders for tubular fluorescent lamps and for starterholders, and the methods of test to be used in determining the safety and the fit of the lamps in the lampholders and the starters in the starterholders. This document deals with mechanical and electrotechnical requirements and test methods for lampholders that shall be observed for the safe operation of light sources and luminaires in which the corresponding holder fit according to IEC 60400 is used. Lampholders according to this document are only intended for use by luminaire manufacturers. They are not intended for retail sale. The standard differs from DIN EN 60400 (VDE 0616-3):2021-10 as follows: a) the possibility of reducing the creepage distances and clearances for lampholders that are not intended for direct connection to the supply network has beEN added to Table 3; b) this reduction is explained in Table 3, Note 2; c) Figure 32 has been replaced, reference value K corrected. Lampholders according to this document are used by luminaire manufacturers for the design of luminaires to enable the luminaire to operate with light sources that can be replaced by the luminaire operator or qualified personnel in the event of light source failure. The use of these holders ensures that the safety and fit of, for example, tubular fluorescent lamps in the luminaires is guaranteed. This is achieved when lampholders according to this standard are used together with bases of the same holder fit/base system.
