DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

Overview

This part of IEC 62368 is applicable to the safety of electrical and electronic equipment within the field of audio, video, information and communication technology, and business and office machines with a rated voltage not exceeding 600 V. This document also applies to components and assemblies intended for installation in this equipment. However, such components and assemblies are not expected to meet the requirements of the standard in every respect, provided that the complete equipment meets the requirements when such components and assemblies are installed; - external power supply units intended to supply equipment falling within the scope of this document; - accessories intended for use with equipment falling within the scope of this document; - large equipment installed in areas with restricted access. Additional requirements may apply to equipment that has large machine aspects, and - equipment for use in tropical regions. This document contains requirements for audio/video, information, and communication technology equipment intended to be installed in an indoor or outdoor location. The requirements for outdoor equipment also apply, where applicable, to outdoor enclosures that are suitable for direct installation in the field and that provide the enclosure for audio/video, information, and communication technology equipment and are installed in an outdoor location. This document does not contain requirements relating to the operational characteristics or functional characteristics of the equipment. The standard differs from DIN EN IEC 62368-1 (VDE 0868-1):2021-05, DIN EN IEC 62368-1 Corrigendum 1 (VDE 0868-1 Corrigendum 1):2022-12 and DIN EN IEC 62368-1 Corrigendum 2 (VDE 0868-1 Corrigendum 2): 2023-08 as follows: a) new table with requirements for external circuits added; b) revision of requirements for openings in fire protection enclosures; c) revision of requirements for liquid-filled components; d) revision of battery charging equipment. Typical examples of applications for this document are: - components and assemblies intended for installation in this equipment; - external power supply units intended to supply equipment falling within the scope of this document.
