Lötfreie Verbindungen - Teil 9: Ultraschallgeschweißte Verbindungen - Allgemeine Anforderungen, Prüfverfahren und praktische Hinweise (IEC 60352-9:2024); Deutsche Fassung EN IEC 60352-9:2024
Overview
The purpose of this part of IEC 60352 is: a) to establish requirements and guidelines for high-quality manufacturing and best practices for preparing for ultrasonic welding and for testing ultrasonically welded connections; b) to enable high yields and high product quality through process control during manufacturing; c) enable manufacturers and users of ultrasonically welded connections to establish best practices as part of a contract. This document covers ultrasonically welded connections made with wires of copper or copper alloy, as well as of aluminium or aluminium alloy, depending on the specification of the end termination. This standard is applicable to welded metal-to-metal connections, namely single wires or strands welded with components with a cross-sectional area of 0,08 mm² to 160 mm², which as welded splice connections do not exceed a total cross-sectional area of 200 mm². Additionally, information on materials, data from industrial experience and test procedures are included to ensure electrically stable connections under prescribed environmental conditions. The purpose of this document is to specify the requirements for welded metal-to-metal connections under specified mechanical, electrical, and climatic conditions, as well as to achieve comparable test results when using ultrasonic welding equipment of different designs or manufacturers that have operating characteristics and specifications compatible with those of the manufacturers of termination for ultrasonic welding. The standard describes the application of the connection method, the materials that can be processed, the necessary tools and equipment, and the connection process. In addition, it describes the testing (mechanical and environmental tests) of the assembly and the acceptance and rejection criteria. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The standard increases investment security for manufacturers and users through its application and provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined test specifications.
