Overview

This Sectional specification applies to passive filter units for electromagnetic interference suppression which fall within the scope of the Generic Specification IEC 60939-1:2010. The scope of this Sectional specification is restricted to passive filter units for which safety tests are appropriate. This sectional specification applies to passive filters that are connected to the power supply line or to other voltage sources whose rated AC voltage does not exceed 1 000 V at a rated frequency of up to 400 Hz, or whose rated DC voltage does not exceed 1 000 V. The standard differs from DIN EN 60939-2 (VDE 0565-3-1):2006-05 as follows: a) update of normative references; b) amendment of the table "Classification of Y-capacitors" and the accompanying text; c) amendment of the table "Minimum cross section of the copper winding of the earth inductor" and the accompanying text; d) amendment of the table "Creepage and clearances" and the accompanying text; e) addition of a document under the bibliographic reference; f) the wording and modal verbs throughout the German version have been revised or updated; g) the German version has been adapted to the current standard text in subclause 1.2. By applying this document, manufacturers and users gain greater investment security; testing laboratories and manufacturers receive defined information for testing; and product compatibility across manufacturers is enhanced.
