Overview
This document describes the design requirements for RAST 2.5 connectors, pin headers, guide frames, components and printed circuit boards for which there is either no design specification (DS), or if their design specification refers to this standard with regard to safety requirements. This document does not apply to connectors in or on equipment for which application-specific safety requirements for connectors exist. The requirements from the equipment standards, such as DIN EN 60335-1 (VDE 0700-1) and series DIN EN 60335 2 (VDE 0700-XX) take precedence over the design specifications and this VDE-Vornorm. This document describes the dimensions of the components associated with a plug connection, the pluggability of the variants, and their installation dimensions. In addition, the associated climate classes, electrical, mechanical, and other characteristic values, and test programs are specified. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined test specifications, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
