Radiological protection - Content of input data for the statistical analysis of dose records of individuals monitored for occupational exposure to ionizing radiation (ISO 24426:2023)
Strahlenschutz - Datenformat für die Eingabe der Dosisaufzeichnungen für bezüglich der beruflichen Exposition durch ionisierende Strahlung überwachte Personen für die statistische Beschreibung (ISO 24426:2023)
Overview
Occupational exposure to ionizing radiation can occur in a wide range of industrial and medical facilities, educational and research institutions, and nuclear fuel cycle facilities. It can also occur in workplaces with natural radiation sources (such as civil aviation, workplaces with radon exposure, and workplaces with naturally occurring radioactive materials). The assessment of occupational radiation exposure and the determination of temporal trends in these doses is an essential tool for the radiation protection of workers in terms of optimizing protection within the framework of the graded approach and dose limitation. According to the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS), approximately 420,000 people in Germany are subject to occupational radiation protection monitoring. This document deals with a common list of activity areas and activities, as well as a common, easy-to-use format for dose types and different degrees of interest with regard to occupational exposure in order to obtain cross-border consistent and directly comparable data on individual and collective exposure.
