Overview
This part of IEC 63203 specifies terms and a measurement protocol for measuring heart rate in wearables equipped with a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor. In addition, this document specifies a test for evaluating the accuracy of wearable devices with a PPG sensor. A wearable device for monitoring heart rate based on PPG is tested with a PPG simulator at different frequencies. The application is not intended to evaluate medical devices associated with and falling within the scope of the IEC 60601 or IEC/ISO 80601 series.
