Overview
This part of IEC 61851 is a technical specification that applies to portable and mobile DRI power supply equipment for electric vehicles with protection against electric shock through double or reinforced insulation. The document specifies the requirements for characteristic values and operating conditions and the determination of the required degree of electrical safety for portable and mobile DRI power supply equipment for electric vehicles. In addition, it describes requirements for bidirectional DC-to-DC power transfer and basic command and control communication for safety and process operations. This document does not apply to safety aspects related to maintenance and electrical equipment and components covered by their specific product standards. This document applies to voltage converter units (VCUs) that are part of a portable or mobile power supply device for electric vehicles with double or reinforced insulation, as well as to portable and mobile DRI power supply devices for electric vehicles.
