Overview

This part fo IEC 63171 covers two-way, shielded or unshielded, free and fixed connectors for data transmission with frequencies up to 600 MHz and with current carrying capacity up to 2,0 A at 60 °C. It is intended to specify the common dimensions, mechanical, electrical, signal integrity, environmental characteristics, reliability specifications and corresponding tests for these connectors. This document describes the dimensions of the components associated with a connection, the pluggability of the variants, and their installation dimensions. In addition, the associated climate classes, electrical, mechanical, and other characteristic values, and test programs are specified. There are no restrictions on the scope of application of the document. The application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides test laboratories and manufacturers with defined test specifications, and ensures compatibility across manufacturers.
