Overview
The scope of application applies to floor boxes and floor enclosures for electrical installation devices with a rated voltage not exceeding 1,000 V AC and 1,500 V DC, intended for household and similar fixed indoor or outdoor electrical installations. The general requirements and tests are specified, as well as, among other things, the dimensions, classification and required markings, protection against electric shock, protective conductor connection, construction, resistance to the penetration of solid foreign bodies and water, mechanical strength and heat resistance, and electrical properties. This document does not apply to boxes and enclosures described in other parts of the EN 60670 series of standards. This document shall always be used together with Part 1 of the EN 60670 series of standards. The standard differs from DIN EN 60670-23 (VDE 0606-23):2009-10 as follows: a) the European foreword to EN 60670-23:2008 now also refers to EN 60670-1:2021/A11:2021; b) the common modifications to Clauses 1, 7, 12, 13 and 15, which became valid through EN 60670-23:2008, have been withdrawn; c) the new Annex ZA to this document and the safety objectives of the directive to be covered have been incorporated. Floor boxes and enclosures are used for the electrical connection of devices below floor level, with simultaneous protection against loads up to and including 1,000 N, including protection of devices that may be installed in the boxes or enclosures.
