Overview

This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 55011:2016. It takes over Edition 6 of the International Standard CISPR 11 (2015 Edition) and its Amendment 1:2010 with common European modifications. The standard applies to the radio disturbance suppression of industrial, scientific, medical and domestic radio-frequency equipment and ISM RF applications in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 400 GHz, whereby the specifications are limited to the upper frequency of 18 GHz and specifies the required limits for interference voltages and interference field strength and the associated methods of measurement at a measuring station or at the installation and operating location of the equipment to be measured. However, measurements shall only be carried out at frequencies for which limits have been specified. Devices and equipment covered by this standard are divided into two classes, class A and class B, depending on the operating location (residential or industrial sector). They are also classified into group 2, if the generated radio-frequency energy is necessary for the treatment of materials and/or for examination or analysis. The other equipment covered by this standard is classified into group 1. The fundamental frequencies for ISM equipment which have been specified by the International Telecommunication Union and the additionally specified fundamental frequencies for individual CENELEC member states are also indicated in this standard (Table 1 contains frequencies specified by the ITU and Table ZB.1 contains the frequencies for ISM equipment which have been specified for the individual CENELEC member states). Once again special attention is drawn to the protection of safety radio services and particularly sensitive radio services. The corresponding frequency ranges of these services are given in the informative Annexes F and G of this standard. The standard also contains specifications for the statistical determination of conformity and the consideration of uncertainty of the measurement equipment. Compared to the previous edition, limit values for and specifications for measuring the emitted interference of power inverters used to connect devices and systems to the public low-voltage grid (the abbreviation used for these devices is "GCPC", which is derived from the English "grid connected power converter"). Definitions for the inverters or power converters are first added to the standard and the devices are classified in ISM group 1 according to this standard. Examples of such inverters or power converters are devices used for the connection of photovoltaic systems. The limit values applicable to the inverters are specified for the AC connection with reference to Tables 2 and 4 and for the DC connection with reference to Tables 3 and 5. The metrological specifications can be found in the new Clause 8.2.2 of CISPR 11 and DIN EN 55011 (VDE 0875-11). The interference voltage at the low-voltage AC supply connection of the power inverter or power converter shall be measured using the usual measurement method for interference voltages at AC mains connections, see also the International Standard CISPR 16-2-1, which has been adopted into the European body of standards as EN 55016-2-1 and the German version of which has been published as DIN EN 55016-2-1 (VDE 0877-16-2-1). In the case of power inverters or power converters for which a supply from an AC source is intended, the DC supply connection shall be connected to a suitable resistive load or other suitable energy storage device via a 150-ohm direct current network emulation (DC-AN), which is newly introduced in the standard. The DUT shall be connected to a suitable load that is within the rated operating range for the type of DUT in question. If the unbalanced disturbance voltages are measured for DC supply connections, compliance with the limit values shall be demonstrated for each of the two measured unbalanced disturbance voltage levels. If, on the other hand, asymmetrical and symmetrical interference voltages are measured, compliance with the limit values shall be demonstrated for both types of measured interference voltage levels. If the DC system simulation in accordance with Annex I of the standard permits the measurement of unbalanced, balanced and asymmetrical interference voltages, it is sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the limit values either for unbalanced interference voltages (method A) or for asymmetrical and balanced interference voltages (method B). The choice of method is left to the user of the standard. The specifications for the measurement of conducted interference emission and further metrological information are contained in the newly created Annex J. For the purpose of the measurements, a 150 Ohm network simulation is introduced for the evaluation of interference voltages at DC supply connections (so-called DC-AN). To ensure that the measurement results on the inverter are not affected by influences from the DC supply, appropriate decoupling of the device under test shall be provided. To avoid measurement errors, a further informative Annex K has been added to the standard, which concerns the configuration and equipment of the measuring station and provides guidelines for avoiding saturation effects that can occur in interference suppression filters of transformer-free power converters during type tests in accordance with this standard. This is intended to prevent the measurement results from being falsified due to saturation effects. Furthermore, the standard introduces measurement according to the so-called APD method (APD: amplitude probability distribution) for Class B, Group 2 devices that have an operating frequency above 400 MHz, and corresponding interference emission limit values that are used when applying this measurement method are also specified. The method serves as an alternative to the already existing weighted measurement using the logarithmic average method. To perform the APD measurement, a so-called APD detector is required, which is specified in the international standard CISPR 16-1-1. The latter standard has been adopted into the European body of standards as EN 55016-2-1 and its German version has been published as DIN EN 55016-1-1 (VDE 0876-16-1-1). Finally, the statistically based specifications for determining the conformity of devices from series production, which were previously included in the normative part of the standard, have been transferred to an informative annex (new Annex H). The standard points out that a type test in accordance with this standard may be recognized as a type approval, provided that the conditions for the statistical evaluation of the measurement results obtained in accordance with the new Annex H are observed.
