Overview
This International Standard applies to the basic safety, including essential performance characteristics, of medically used beds for use by an extended group of patients. It specifies a pictogram that allows the operator to clearly select the patient appropriate for that medical-use bed. The preparation of this supplement was required by a three-part mandate M/467 of the EU Commission. This standard fulfils Part A of the mandate. Activities for Parts B and C are in preparation at CLC/TC 62. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 812.9 "Patientenlagerungseinrichtungen" ("Patient positioning devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
