Overview
These particular requirements apply to the basic safety and essential performance of surgical luminaires and luminaires for diagnosis. This standard does not apply to: headlights, endoscopes, laparoscopes and their light sources. Luminaires for general purposes are covered by the DIN EN 60598 family. The following modifications have been made: incorporation of the technical modifications on the basis of comments which were received during the harmonization process in Europe. Update of the defined terms, improvement of the terminology used and expansion of the explanations for the scope indicated in Annex AA. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 812.8 "Medizinische Versorgungseinheiten" ("Medical gas supply systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
