Overview
This part of DIN EN 61010 is applicable to electrically operated laboratory equipment and its accessories for mechanical mixing and stirring, where mechanical energy influences the shape or size or homogeneity of materials and their accessories. Such devices may contain heating elements. Compared with the previous edition equipment is now excluded from the drop test which is unlikely to move unintentionally due to its size and mass. The responsible committee is DKE/K 913 "Sicherheitsanforderungen an typische Geräte, Einrichtungen und Systeme für Labor und Unterricht" ("Safety requirements for typical apparatus, equipment and systems for laboratory and teaching purposes") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
