Title (German)

Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (EMV) - Teil 6-7: Fachgrundnormen - Störfestigkeitsanforderungen an Geräte und Einrichtungen, die zur Durchführung von Funktionen in sicherheitsbezogenen Systemen (funktionale Sicherheit) an industriellen Standorten vorgesehen sind (IEC 61000-6-7:2014); Deutsche Fassung EN 61000-6-7:2015

Overview

This standard contains the German version of the European standard EN 61000-6-7:2015 which takes over the International Standard IEC 61000-6-7 (edition 2014). It specifies immunity requirements in the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz for electrical and electronic equipment, devices and installations intended to perform functions in safety-related systems in industrial environments. It serves the purposes of suppliers who need a benchmark to assess or confirm the immunity to electromagnetic disturbances of equipment, devices and installations intended for use in safety-related systems. It is recommended that it is also used by designers, integrators, installers and assessors of safety-related systems to assess the aforementioned confirmation provided by suppliers. Finally, it provides guidance for product committees that wish to make specifications on EMC and functional safety for their products. In drafting this standard, the specifications of the IEC 61508 series of standards have been taken into account, for example in terms of definitions as well as in terms of the protection concept. IEC 61508 does not necessarily require that proof of sufficient immunity is provided by means of immunity tests. There may be other ways to demonstrate sufficient immunity, for example at the design level and/or by analysis. The series of standards has been adopted as the EN 61508 series, and its German version has been published as the DIN EN 61508 series (VDE 0803). The requirements of this standard shall be applied in accordance with the requirements of IEC/TS 61000-1-2:2008 with regard to the safety life cycle. As stated in IEC/TS 61000-1-2, several but not all phases of the safety life cycle described in IEC 61508 (design, implementation, verification, validation phases) are affected by electromagnetic compatibility considerations. The minimum requirements of IEC/TS 61000-1-2:2008 are covered by passing the electromagnetic immunity tests specified in this standard. This standard introduces the evaluation criterion DS for the operating behaviour in the field of EMC. The primary objective is to prevent the occurrence of a safety problem when electromagnetic disturbances act which can affect the operation of equipment, apparatus or installations. The standard specifies the corresponding test disturbance variables in relation to conducted and radiated, short-term (transient) and permanent disturbance variables and - by reference to the corresponding basic EMC standards of the IEC 61000-4 series - the associated test procedures. It is recommended to draw up a test plan before the start of the test, the essential elements of which are described in this standard. Finally, it contains specifications for performance of the test, the operating conditions of the DUT during the test and the test report. The committee responsible is DKE/K 767 "Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (EMV)" ("Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
