Fixed resistors for use in electronic equipment - Part 2: Sectional specification: Leaded fixed low power film resistors (IEC 60115-2:2014, modified); German version EN 60115-2:2015

Title (German)

Festwiderstände zur Verwendung in Geräten der Elektronik - Teil 2: Rahmenspezifikation: Niedrigbelastbare Schicht-Festwiderstände mit Drahtanschlüssen (IEC 60115-2:2014, modifiziert); Deutsche Fassung EN 60115-2:2015

Overview

This standard is applicable to leaded fixed low-power film resistors with wire terminals for use in electronic equipment. These resistors are typically described according to types (different geometric shapes) and styles (different dimensions) and product technology. The resistive element of these resistors is typically protected by a conformal lacquer coating. These resistors have wire terminations and are primarily intended to be mounted on a circuit board in through-hole technique. The object of this standard is to prescribe preferred ratings and characteristics and to select from IEC 60115-1, the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring methods and to give general performance requirements for this type of resistor. The figure shows the shape and dimensions of resistors with axial wire terminations, whereby the preferred styles and their corresponding dimensions can be found in the table. The style designation for film resistors with axial wire termination starts with the code letters RA. Chapter 3 defines the terms, describes product technologies and product classification. Other chapters cover preferred characteristic values, tests and test severities, test requirements, and marking, packaging, and ordering information. The chapter on detail specifications contains the information that shall be included in each detail specification, with the prescribed values preferably being taken from the relevant section of this sectional specification. Detail specifications shall be prepared in accordance with the appropriate detail specification form. Design specifications shall not specify requirements less stringent than the generic or sectional specification or the detail specification form. If they contain more stringent requirements, these shall be listed in a corresponding section of the detail specification and identified in the test plans, for example by a note. The chapter on quality assessment procedures describes, among other things, the primary stage of manufacture, structurally similar components, the quality assessment level EZ and procedures for qualification approval. The normative Annex A deals with 0-Ώ-resistors (jumpers). This Annex allows 0-Ώ-resistors to be covered in the same specification and quality assessment scheme when considered as a complementary group to a family of resistors with Rn > 0 Ώ. Informative Annex B describes styles with radially curved terminals. This Annex provides basic information and recommendations on various resistor types with radially curved terminals, where the curving of the terminal leads takes place outside the resistor body; that is, based on resistors with originally axial wire terminals. Normative Annex C describes the endurance test at room temperature, Informative Annex D contains formula symbols and abbreviations. Informative Annex X is the reference list to the previous edition of this standard. The table contains a reference list to all specific elements of the previous edition of this sectional specification. The responsible committee is DKE/GK 613 "Widerstände" ("Resistors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
