Overview
The data exchange format defined in this standard series is based on a XML scheme and has been developed in order to support the data exchange in a heterogeneous engineering tools landscape. The goal is to interconnect already existing tools for various trades, such as mechanical construction, electric planning, procedural layout, development of the user interfaces, controller design, control design and robot programming. The responsible committee is DKE/K 941 "Engineering" ("Engineering") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
