Overview
The second edition of DIN EN IEC 61837-2 is amended by a further type of enclosure since a new small resonator which is installed inside an enclosure has been developed. This type of enclosure is widely used in smartphones, tablet computers and portable audio devices, and the sales volume in the market is increasing. This extension to DIN EN IEC 61837-2 includes a drawing of type DCC-2/2012C and the associated lead connections. In accordance with DIN EN 61240, which describes the general rules for surface-mounted quartz crystal devices, the drawing has been prepared as defined by the new rules according to which the drawing of an enclosure comprises four views: the view from above, the front view, the view from the right, and the view from below. The responsible committee is DKE/K 642 "Piezoelektrische Bauteile zur Frequenzstabilisierung und -selektion" ("Piezoelectric and dielectric devices for frequency control and selection") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
