Overview
This standard specifies environmental requirements and tests as well as safety aspects for empty enclosures in accordance with the metric and the 482,6 mm (19 inch) structure, that is cabinets, racks, subracks and chassis under indoor conditions. The purpose of this standard is to specify requirements for storage, transport and final location conditions for the mechanical structures of cabinets, racks, subracks and chassis. Essential modifications regarding the previous edition of this standard include reference to fire hazard testing according to IEC 60695-11-10, the static load test and the static load distribution. The responsible committee is DKE/K 662 "Bauweisen" ("Structures") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
