Overview
This European Standard contains the initial, start of life dimensional, optical, mechanical and environmental performance requirements which a terminated and assembled 12 fibre multimode MPO connector set (plug adapter plug) shall meet in order for it to be categorised as an EN standard product. Since different variants are permitted, product marking details are given in 3.5. The standards of the 50377 series refer to the standards of the IEC 61754 (Fibre optic connector interfaces), IEC 61755 (Optical interface) and IEC 61300 (Basic test and measurement procedures) series. The standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the definition of the connector and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
