Overview

This preliminary standard contains safety-related and function-related additional specifications for equipotential bonding and earthing of information technology equipment when it comes into contact with other equipotential bonding and earthing equipment. One of the significant aims is the prevention of electromagnetic disturbances. With respect to the previous standard, specifications incorporated in other standards have been deleted and replaced by normative references and specifications which remain applicable have been editorially revised. The responsible Committee is K 712 "Sicherheit von Anlagen der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik einschließlich Potentialausgleich und Erdung" ("Safety of information and communication technology systems, including equipotential bonding and earthing") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
