Overview
This standard applies for electrical temperature sensors with replaceable inserts. These inserts are intended for RTDs and thermocouples for use with or without connection head according to DIN EN 50446. The lengths of the inserts correspond to the dimensions of the protection tubes according to DIN 43772. The inserts described in this standard (RTDs and thermocouples) are intended for use in fittings, protection tubes and measuring equipment with shape B connection heads according to DIN EN 50446 The given installation dimensions shall be adhered to so that the inserts can be installed in the protection tubes according to DIN 43772. The head does not have to correspond to the illustration, however. This concerns, in particular, the external shape and lid fastening which are made using screws, lids having internal threads and hinges. The required interior space is necessary for accommodation of terminal sockets or the measuring transducer or electronic module mounted on the insert. The installation-related dimensions shall be taken into account so that a safe cable routing is assured and there is no contact with the housing or lid. For further information, especially with regard to materials, the current version of DIN EN 50446 shall be taken as the basis. An informative annex sets out the classification of the lengths of inserts for RTDs and thermocouples to the installation lengths for electrical temperature sensors without protection tubes and with protection tubes according to DIN 43772:2000-03 indicating the neck tube lengths to be used. This new edition of DIN 43735 has been supplemented by an extension of the scope to sensors for platinum resistance thermometers and additional insert lengths and changed tolerances of the insert lengths. The responsible Committee is K 961 "Elektrische Messwertaufnehmer und Messgrößenumformer" ("Electrical measurement sensors and transducers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
