This standard applies to cables with extruded insulation and for rated voltages U0/U (Um) from 3,6/6 (7,2) kV up to 20,8/36 (42) kV used in power distribution systems of voltages not exceeding the maximum r.m.s. value of the system voltage Um. Part 1 specifies the general requirements for all cables according to this standard, requirements are changed in the individual main clauses of this HD, if necessary. Part 10-C specifies the construction, dimensions and test requirements of single-core power cables with XLPE-insulation and with PE-sheath or PVC-sheath for rated voltage U0/U of 6/10 kV, 12/20 kV and 18/30 kV and of three-core power cables with XLPE-insulation and with PE-sheath or PVC-sheath for rated voltage U0/U of 6/10 kV for fixed installations. With respect to DIN VDE 0276-620 (VDE 0276-620):2009-05, the parts 5-C for single-core cables and 6-C for three-core cables have been combined to one part 10-C, which contains the necessary requirements and tests for all types. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 411.1 "Starkstromkabel" ("Power cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
