Optical fibre cables - Part 1-33: Generic specification - Optical cable elements - Buffer tube
Abstract
This part of IEC 60794, which is a generic specification, covers buffer tubes (or loose tubes) with optical fibres. Requirements which are described in this part apply to buffer tubes used in optical cables. This document defines the general parameters to be measured on buffer tubes since the corresponding tests on the optical fibres, fibre ribbons or finished cable are not sufficient for complete characterization. Detailed specifications of optical cable using buffer tubes for each application are given in IEC 60794-2 (for indoor use), IEC 60794-3 (for outdoor use), IEC 60794-4 (for along electrical power lines use), IEC 60794-5 (for installation by blowing use), and IEC 60794-6 (for indoor-outdoor use).
