Industrial networks - Fieldbus specifications - Part 4-31: Data-link layer protocol specification - Type 31 elements
Abstract
IEC 61158-4-31 extends the existing technology of CPF12 with networking mechanisms by defining new data-link-layer protocol elements. The required Ether Type for the new Ethernet protocol is already assigned by the IEEE RAC to the usage for Type 31. The protocol extension provides technological benefits and enables the installation of larger industrial automation equipment network by supporting mixed data rates and parallel processing of information in different segments using the existing data link layer elements. The new Type 31 improves the technology and leads to an increased applicability for more applications.
