Hydraulic machines - Guidelines for dealing with hydro-abrasive erosion in Kaplan, Francis and Pelton turbines
Abstract
The DIN EN IEC 62364 standard provides guidelines for detecting, evaluating and reducing hydro-abrasive erosion in Kaplan, Francis and Pelton turbines. It describes typical erosion mechanisms, their impact on efficiency, reliability and service life, as well as strategies for material selection, surface treatment, operational optimisation and maintenance planning. It also supports operators in introducing monitoring and diagnostic procedures to identify damage at an early stage and improve the overall performance of hydraulic machines in the long term.
