Abstract

DIN EN IEC 62256 describes procedures for modernising and improving the performance of water turbines, storage pumps and pump turbines, including Francis, Kaplan, propeller, Pelton and bulb turbines. It helps operators, experts and manufacturers to define rehabilitation requirements, economic aspects, scope of work and evaluation criteria. The standard serves as a decision-making and information aid, identifies key steps in the rehabilitation process and lists relevant technical factors, without however being a detailed engineering or maintenance manual.
