Electroacoustics - Audiometric equipment - Part 6: Instruments for the measurement of otoacoustic emissions
Abstract
This part of IEC 60645 applies to devices primarily intended for measuring otoacoustic emissions in the human ear canal triggered by acoustic probe stimuli. This document defines the characteristics to be specified by the manufacturer, specifies the minimum mandatory functions for two device classes, and contains the performance specifications applicable to both device types. This document describes procedures for demonstrating compliance with the specifications of this document and provides guidance on procedures for periodic calibration. The purpose of this document is to ensure that measurements performed under comparable measurement conditions with different devices complying with this document provide comparable results. Devices may have a measurement function that is not explicitly within the scope of this document and may still comply with the relevant requirements of this document for the functions within the scope. This document is not intended to hinder the development or implementation of new device features, nor is it intended to discourage the pursuit of entirely new approaches.
