Abstract

This standard specifies the operational and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results for class A shipborne equipment of the universal automatic identification system AIS. It takes account of United Nations' specialized agencies results like International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Resolutions and International Telecommunication Union - Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) Recommendations. This part 2 of IEC 61993 also specifies the minimum requirements both for the means to input and display data and for the interfaces to other equipment suitable to be used as means of input and display data.
