Railway applicatios - Safety protocols for signaling applications - Part 3: PVS: Safety related transmission protocol for application between ground systems

Abstract

This International Standard shall provide the definition of a safe data transmission protocol in accordance with IEC 62280. This International Standard shall be applicable for safety-related electrical, electronic and programmable electronic systems (E/E/PES including sub-systems and components) for railway signal applications. This document does not apply to safety protocols inside on-board train communication networks. This International Standard is not in contradiction to the horizontal standards on OT-Security / Cybersecurity. This International Standard provides definitions and requirements for Protocollo Vitale Standard (PVS), a safety protocol for railway communication given by the Italian national Standard CEI 9-206. This International Standard does not support a specific implementation but provides enough details to ensure compatible interfaces between different implementations of PVS. The detailed specification of interfaces related to the application and to the underlying transport layer are not in the scope of this International Standard. Transport layers are not specified by this International Standard, but well-defined transport layers may be used.
