Sound insulation in buildings - Part 2: Verification of compliance with the requirements by calculation
Abstract
This document specifies calculation methods for determining sound transmission in buildings for - airborne sound, - impact sound, - outdoor noise, and - building services systems. The calculation methods specified in this document for the expected airborne and impact sound insulation and the expected sound levels from building services systems are considered proof of compliance with the requirements set forth in DIN 4109-1. The parameters used in the calculation methods described below to characterize sound insulation for airborne sound R′w and impact sound L′n,w correspond to the parameters specified in DIN 4109-1. If parameters for the design of sound insulation are to be determined in accordance with DIN 4109-1, the instructions in Appendix B of this document must be followed. That section describes how the component-related parameters R′w and L′n,w are to be converted into the corresponding room-related parameters DnT,w and L′nT,w. In addition, this document contains an informative Annex C providing a detailed treatment of uncertainty and an informative Annex D with calculation examples.
