Equipment for building maintenance - Safety requirements for workplaces and accesses - Design and construction
Abstract
This standard shall be applied: - to the construction and modification of permanent structures for which the planning of the execution commenced after this standard came into force; - to the planning, design, and use of safely accessible facilities at permanently installed workplaces, access routes, and other facilities on, at, and within structures, in particular for inspection and maintenance work on roofs, façades, internal and external building envelopes, building greening systems, building services installations, and solar energy systems; - to permanently installed anchorage devices for securing equipment used at temporary workplaces (e.g. façade scaffolds, mast climbing work platforms, permanently suspended personnel-carrying equipment) that are used for maintenance purposes. This standard does not apply to: - workplaces and access routes intended for general public use; - the design and construction of workplaces and access routes required for chimney sweeping operations (in accordance with DIN 18160-5); - workplaces and access routes used for repair and improvement works.
