Abstract

This document provides guidance on the key material properties of FRP materials for the lower housing of OIP bushings and describes test methods that can be used for evaluation, including suggested minimum requirements. It is applicable to FRP insulation materials intended for use in the lower housing of HV OIP bushings for system voltages above 1 000 V AC. The performance of OIP bushing lower housing in service depends on several factors, including material type, design and surrounding conditions. Consequently, selecting materials that meet the requirements listed in Table 1 is a necessary condition but does not guarantee satisfactory performance when used in OIP bushings.
