Digital Systems for water management - Part 2: Reference architecture of the water ecosystem
Abstract
This topic has been submitted as a request for the development of a DIN SPEC according to the PAS procedure. The application is currently being examined. DIN SPECs are developed within workshops set up on a temporary basis. This document will be developed and approved by the authors who will approve the business plan. This DIN SPEC sets out general principles for viewing (digital) water management as critical infrastructure, particularly with regard to resilience and resistance. Suitable strategies for maintaining or achieving services of general interest, in particular by means of digital systems, are presented. This document presents the essential digital adaptations to the existing water management ecosystem in the form of a reference architecture, taking critical infrastructures into account. KPIs for assessing the effectiveness of the digital components are specified, and corresponding basic ideas for the economic operation of the digital systems are defined. This document is aimed at professional and technical operators of digital systems in the water management ecosystem, researchers, IT specialists and stakeholders in the world of smart cities. It also takes into account the current digital transformation of water management in the national municipal and transnational context, e.g. with regard to municipal data platforms or other ICT systems.
