Abstract

This document specifies requirements and describes properties of corrosion-protective, decorative-functional, electrodeposited chromium coatings from chromium(III)-based electrolytes on nickel and copper-nickel coatings on plastics. For electroplated nickel-chromium and copper-nickel-chromium coatings on plastics, where the chromium coatings are deposited from chromium(VI)-based electrolytes, DIN 53100 applies. For electroplated nickel-chromium and copper-nickel-chromium coatings with chromium coatings from chromium(VI)-based electrolytes on metals, DIN EN ISO 1456 applies. For the deposition of chromium coatings from chromium(III)-based electrolytes on metals, the information from this standard can be applied analougusly. This document does not apply to electroplated coatings deposited on plastics for technical purposes.
