Abstract

This document establishes the requirements for ecolabeling programs and ecolabels and provides guidance on how ecolabels that comply with this document can be distinguished from other environmental claims on the market. The document addresses the development of ecolabel programs, the selection of product categories, environmental criteria, and product performance characteristics, as well as the procedure for evaluating and certifying products and services that have been granted a license to use an ecolabel. The committee NA 172-00-03 AA "Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Labels" at DIN is responsible for this standard.
